I was a dancer for 15 years and was introduced to Yoga through one of my dance professors in college. After college, I joined a gym to get back in shape and I loved the community feel of group fitness classes. Within months, I had lost 40 pounds and was going to classes 6 days a week. Throughout my weight loss journey, I wondered why I still felt like I was missing something. I gravitated towards Yoga because it forced me to confront myself emotionally, mentally and spiritually. I had finally found what I was searching for. I decided I wanted to share that enthusiasm about whole body fitness and got certified to teach in the spring of 2015 at Hawaii Yoga Institute. The people who come to my classes inspire me. When I feel their energy and notice changes in them from the moment they walk in to the moment they leave. They seem to leave the studio lighter, happier, and more connected to the universe and themselves. They do that for themselves, they do the work and they get to reap the benefits in their daily lives. It is exactly why I choose to be a part of a community that shares Yoga and its philosophies. I love to witness the spark of change for the better when it leaves the studio. I know it will catch fire and help to offset all of the negativity and sadness that surrounds us all. I am grateful to have the opportunity to share yoga at azItala. See you soon!
